The future is a harsh and twisted place in this remake of Roger Corman.s sci-fi action-thriller, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and produced by Tom Cruise. After being framed for murder, an ex-con called Frankenstein (played by Jason Statham) is sent back to prison. A few weeks prior to his release, he is drafted to participate in the .death race., a brutal reality show centered around an ultra-violent three-day cross-country car race that pits ruthless inmates against each other in a deadly gauntlet. Behind the wheel of a monster truck loaded with grenade launchers, flamethrowers, and machine guns, he faces off for the ultimate prize of freedom. The film also stars Joan Allen as the prison warden who forces him to join the race, Tyrese Gibson as Machine Gun Joe, and Deadwood.s Ian McShane. This film is out Sept. 28.
