In this film noir, Chris Cooper stars as Harry, a married man who finds himself more and more uninterested in his wife (Patricia Clarkson) as the days pass by. When he begins a passionate affair with Kay (Rachel McAdams), he decides it.s time to end his marriage. With divorce being considered shameful in a 1940.s society, Harry decides to poison his wife, as to end his marriage tactfully. One mistake.he tells his best friend Richard (Pierce Brosnan), who realizes he.s actually in love with the beautiful Kay as well! Deception and murder ensues . who will win Kay.s heart?
